SLJ That was Summer

Welcome back or welcome to my blog!

Hello everybody, sorry for not posting a Summer Learning Journey task (or anything) on my blog recently! This is my 21st Summer Learning Journey task. This task is sort of like a reflection on this Summer but in a sort of artistic way! I had to write flashbacks from this Summer that i'm sure most people had too! I hope you enjoy.

SLJ - Te Reo Maori - Ice cream (kick start)

Welcome back or welcome to my blog y'all!

This is my 18th Summer Learning Journey task! I am so sorry for being very inactive with my tasks and I will try to not stop doing them! Anyways, this task is a Te Reo Maori task and it's about Ice Cream. I had to listen to a recording of simple Ice Cream ordering related sentences in Te Reo Maori and I had to have a go at writing them!

After I finished writing them, I had to delete the boxes underneath the sentences to see if I wrote it correctly! The video to that is on the 2nd and 3rd slides.

How to Write a Quality Blog Comment!

Welcome back or welcome to my blog!

Today, i'll be giving you some tips to make a quality blog comment or just any comment!

1. Make sure your comment is positive!

Making sure your comment is positive is a MUST! Don't be negative, especially when giving somebody feedback on something. You could tell someone that they could've done something else instead of what they did do or something like that but, just make sure that it doesn't sound rude. You don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, do you?

2. Read through your comment! Does it sound right?

Now when I say, "does it sound right?" I don't mean does the grammar sound right. I'm talking about your comment in general. Is it positive? Maybe your comment is positive but it just might sound negative to the person it's for. So make sure you look at the other persons perspective as well!

3. Grammar!

As mentioned above, grammar isn't really that important but you want to make sure that your grammar isn't that bad because you want people to understand what your trying to say. Try using interesting words maybe or make sure that you fix even the littlest details. That includes adding a capital letter to the start of a new sentence.  It's OK if you don't do that but if you know that you didn't add a capital letter then add it because if you know that you made that small mistake, why not fix it?

4. Feedback!

Let's say you want to give some feedback to the person your writing to. This could be a tip or some advice for something! Make sure you don't come off rude (as mentioned from before).

5. Add something you liked about what they did or the project they made, etc!

For example, let's say I wanted to comment on one of the Manaiakalani Film Festival movies and I have a favourite part from the movie! Add it in! Example: "Hello Room ___! I loved your movie because ________". Something like that maybe but add more other nice things you liked!

5.  Don't make your Comment boring!

Sometimes people just write short and boring comments like, "Cool", "I like your movie",  etc and that's not really a proper comment. It sort of seemed like a year one wrote it (no offence year 1's)! Make your comment long (but maybe not WAY too long- LOL)!

And there you have it! Some times for a positive, thoughtful and quality comment. I hope you use these tips and feel free to leave a positive comment :)

2020 End of Year Highlights

Welcome back or welcome to my blog!

Can you believe it? 2020 is actually finished and we are already in 2021! It feels like just a few weeks ago I was settling into my new year 6 class and now here we are, I am going to be a year 7! Speaking of going from year 6 to year 7, this means that I have finished Primary!

This year was INSANE and I am glad that I get to share all of it (well as much of it as I can) with you and that's why I will be giving you my top highlights of this year...!

1. CAMP!

Camp Bentzon at Kawau Island was one of the most amazing camps I have ever been to and I had such an amazing time with all of my teachers and friends! My favourite activities were abseiling and also orienteering! It was so fun sharing a cabin with my friend Adriana and I loved all the food there (especially the dessert- YUM!)

2. PRIZE GIVING! My gosh was prize giving one amazing night! For starters, I got an Ambassador certificate and a actually dang BAG with lollies and even a pair of earbuds!! Next I got a PENN (Pt England New's Network) award! Lastly, I got a 2nd= Academic award! I tied with Roman from my class!

3. AMBASSADORS! I was and still am very sad that I am no longer an ambassador... It was so much fun spending time with the other ambassadors and Mr Sommerville learning our scripts and going to University's! I am so sad to let this go but I am so, SO happy that I got chosen to be an ambassador from the start!

(By the way, this is my favourite picture of us- hehe!)

Well there you have it, my top 2020 highlights! There are so many other highlights but these were one of my most special highlights from this year! I can't wait to see what 2020 has in store for us and before I end this blog post I just wanted to say something to Mr Goodwin...

I hope you have an amazing time working for Maniakalani! I hope you visit us in the future!

:)
