SLJ UV Wearable Design

Welcome back or welcome to my blog!

This is my 16th Summer Learning Journey task! I had to design a UV Wearable. UV stands for Ultra Violet. UV is basically the different level of UV index and how bright and hot it is outside. I had to design something that can tell you what the UV level is and it has to be wearable! I designed this comfy, smart bracelet. The colour of the bracelet tell's you what level the UV is currently.

If you press the small black button then it shows you what you should do when you encounter that level of UV. For example, my bracelet is blue! This means if I press the button the bracelet will tell me that the UV level is very high and that I should proceed to stay inside! I think that if this bracelet becomes a real thing then I think it should cost around $70 dollars at the least and $120 at the most! That is unless they add some other cool things!

Please leave a positive comment :)

Red= Lowest Level
Orange= Low Level
Yellow= Low Level
Green= Both Low and High
Blue= High
Indigo\Dark Blue= Very High
Purple\Violet= Extremely High

This is my 3rd task for the Summer Learning Journey and it is to write a song chorus. I am not really the best at these type of things but I tried my best on this one! My song chorus is called "Stand out and Proud". Some people might not be confident to be their selves so I made this song if your one of those people! Remember, it's OK to be yourself! In fact- it's amazing to be yourself!

Optical Illusion SLJ

Welcome back or welcome to my blog!

This is the second task for the Summer Learning Journey and it was simple yet very fun! If you look at the illusion I made below, you can see 3 happy girls that are different heights.. or are they?
Truth is that, all 3 girls are the same height except the girl behind the first girl is placed higher. That goes for the girl in the back. She is placed just slightly higher then the middle girl creating this illusion.

Term 4 Reflection 2020

Welcome back or welcome to my blog!

Next week is the last week of school for 2020! Everything has gone by so fast and Thursday is Prizegiving! Anyways, during this year the year 5 and 6 Extension also had a lot of fun! Today we had our Secret Santa and our share lunch! There was Cheetos, donuts, chips, french fries, fizzy drinks and more. Angelica got me for Secret Santa and bought me some yummy cookies and fancy chocolate!

The year has been crazy- especially with COVID and stuff but we got through it by doing little things like staying home, washing our hands and wearing masks out in public. I am glad we are back at school and can learn face to face and enjoy being with our friends!

This year has also been very fun because me and some of my friends are ambassadors! We didn't get to have many visitors because of lockdown but we still enjoyed the time we had to be ambassadors!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :D

A.F.J Photographers Art Alive Extension Research

Anyways, I had to do a research presentation with my lovely friends Julianna and Finau! We were the group "Photographers" and in our presentation we had to discuss and research things about photographers like, how to take a good picture, iconic photos and much more!

I hope you enjoy! Merry Christmas :)

Creative Writing: At The Beach

Welcome or welcome back to my blog!

For today's writing, I had to write a story about being on the beach and my 5 senses. When I was writing I actually completely forgot about the 5 senses bit and just wrote an ordinary story but I hope you enjoy anyway! Also, this is just a narrative so it's all made up.

Please leave a positive comment and now let the story begin... :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing’s better than going for a midnight swim or just to walk around the beach at dawn. Well, maybe there could be things that are better than that like your friends and family, pizza, ice cream.. You get what I mean..

Anyways, today at dawn, me and my best friend, Jade were walking around and hanging with our neighbors dog because we had to look after it for the night so we brang it with us to the beach. It was supposed to be just the two of us but, we didn’t mind having a fluffy cute dog with us at all.

We placed our beach towels down on the sand and then we layed down on them. It was super peaceful until Max, (the dog’s name), barked because he was bored and wanted to have fun!

“What is it Max? We are trying to relax!” I said.

“Woof Woof!” Said Max as he lifted one paw slightly up and pointed  towards the sea.

“Well, if i’m correct you want to go to the sea right?” I asked Max.

“Woof!” Said Max with a smile.

“I’ll take that as a yes! Let’s go! Come on Jade!” I said.

There weren’t many people today which was good for us because it’s nicer. Anyways, we were already in our swim togs (me and Jade) so we splashed into the water with Max. The water was refreshingly cold in both a good and bad way.

“Hey Jade! Look behind you!” I said.

“Ok..?” Said Jade.

While she was looking around behind her I splashed some water on her!

“Oh your so gonna pay for that!!” Jade replied as she splashed a bucket of water at me.

“I’m gonna get you!” I yelled as I splashed her back.

We were having a great time and Max was enjoying it too. He liked getting splashed.

After a couple of minutes of splashing each other we decided to have a nice swim. So, we did exactly that and it was such an amazing experience. To my surprise, even Max enjoyed it and normally, he likes doing fun, adventurous things so it was definitely a bit unexpected when we found out Max actually enjoyed it!

“Ah, this is the life.” I said as I floated calmly on my back.

“Yes, it really is.” Jade replied as she floated on her back.

“Woof, woof!” Max said.

“It looks like Max is enjoying himself too!” I chuckled.

After about 10 minutes or so of calm swimming, we decided to just lay down on our beach towels. So I walked out of the water and layed on my beach towel and just relaxed.

Relaxing is good for your body weather your sick, tired or just feel like calming down. We relaxed for a good 20 minutes and then we made the decision to go back home.

Although the day had a lot of unexpected splashing in it, it was still fun and I am glad that we got to hang out together!

The end...

Art Alive, Term 4 Artwork!

Welcome back or welcome to my blog!

Today, i'll be explaining my Art Alive (Toi Ora) art for this term! Today was the art exhibition so everybody had to have their art all finished and on display for the whole school to take turns to see!
For team 4's art, we had to do 5 different patterns from 5 different cultures. Those cultures were Maori, Niue, Samoa, Tonga and the Cook Island's. It took a bit of a while to plan and to make but, I think mine is pretty cool!

Please leave a positive comment :)

Maori Art Meaning:

I chose to do this because the Ahu ahu mataroa shows talent and achievement specifically in sport but I still included this pattern as it still represents talent and achievement in some kind of way! I chose this pattern because I think that I am pretty talented and I have a bunch of amazing achievements in my life that I am very proud of!

And the reason why I added a single Mangopare in the center is because the Mangopare represents strength, leadership, agility, tenacity, unrelenting determination, courage, and wealth. I feel like i’m courageous and a leader and I feel like I have all the qualities that the Mangopare represents.

Niuean Art Meaning:

Shark Teeth represent protection, guidance and strength. It also represents fierocity but, they are also symbols of adaptability in many different cultures. The Spearhead is a symbol that is used to represent the warrior’s qualities. Meaning strength etc I think. Both of those things sort of in a way, represent me! :)

Samoan Art Meaning:

I chose the Turtle Shell Pattern because I love turtles and a lot of Pacific cultures have a symbol that’s a turtle. I also chose the Samoan symbol which represents Energy because I feel like I have a lot of energy. And, i’m pretty sure that the type of energy the symbol represents isn’t the type of energy I think it represents but, let’s just pretend that it does represent the energy that I’M talking about LOL!

Tongan Art Meaning:

I chose 4 things that are important to me. They are, family\friends, church, culture and education! I had to draw three things that symbolize those things!

Cook Island Art Meaning:

I stumbled across this on Google and I thought it was really cool also, we don’t have much time to finish our art so I just chose this one. I am not sure what it means but I do know that it probably is important to the Cook Islands!

Term 4 Extension Art!

Welcome back or welcome to my blog!

This is my art for Extension for term 4! This terms inquiry theme is Art Alive. I had to draw a piece of art on Hyperstudio that represents New Zealand\Kiwiana Icons and also my culture! This is what I came up with and also, I didn't have much time to work on it because of camp so yeah.

My artworks meaning:

I decided to make one side my culture (Rakhine) and the other side New Zealand! In the middle of the two, I have a Hokey-Pokey ice cream which is one of the Kiwiana icons.

On the left side, (my culture side), I have patterns from my cultures cultural wear. The patterns don't mean anything but they look really pretty. I also have the Rakhine flag on that side.

On the New Zealand side I have a mountain and on the bottom there's a sea and sand. I am well aware that the New Zealand side is drawn pretty badly and isn't realistic but I don't have enough time to go back and change it all.

The whole thing altogether is very simple but, it's way better than what I originally thought of doing. My original idea was to just do my cultural patterns and a Hokey-Pokey ice cream in the middle- but luckily I didn't do that and I improved my idea for the better! :)

Camp Bentzon Top 5 tips

Welcome back or welcome to my blog!

It's been 4 days now that I haven't posted because of... CAMP! Although, camps already over now sadly ;'(

Here are 5 tips from me about camp! Year 5's, this is mainly for you guys!

Please leave a positive comment :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear future campers,

Camp Bentzon is wild yet probably the best camp ever although, as a fellow year 6 camper, I have some tips for you to have an even better camp experience!

1. Abseiling is probably the activity that everybody find’s at least a little bit difficult so when you are about to go, take as much time as you need to prepare! Slowly feed the rope thing when you go down and remember, it isn’t a race or anything so take as much time as you need! Also, make sure you listen to the instructor so you can wear your harness on properly. Otherwise, you could fall and hurt yourself!

2. Another tip is for sailing! Sailing is tricky and scary but I personally feel like going in a pair is better because you feel more safe and it’s easier to control the tiller and the sail. Make sure you don’t panic, you might tip if you do. Also, remember that it’s actually good if your sail moves a lot, it may seem like it’ll tip but it’s actually what’s supposed to be happening.

3. Make sure to pack a big water bottle for the long hike on the first day! Trust me- you’ll need it!! The hike is so exhausting and tiring so you better pack one! Also, wear shorts and a short sleeve t-shirt and pack a lightweight jacket in your day bag just in case!

4. Another tip is that when you are on the ferry, hold on to your hat because it could fall into the water. Make sure you don’t have anything in your hands or else you could drop it because two of the boys from camp dropped their water bottles on the way back!

5. This isn’t a must but I advise you to bring more t-shirts and pants then what it says you should bring, (not too much though maybe like 1 or 2 more than what it says), because your outfit’s could get wet.

With these Top 5 tips you will have a great camp with no worries and make sure to get seconds for dessert because it’s super yummy :P

Also, I heard there is kind of this thing where some people get triggered when they hear eating noises so if you think you might get triggered then please don't watch this video!

Holiday Memory Recount

Hello everybody! Welcome back to my blog or welcome!

So first off, sorry for the big size of text. I'm just trying to make it look different from the story coming below!

Basically, today my class and I practised our writing test and had 40 minutes to write a highlight from the recent school holiday we had a few days ago! I wrote about  how me and my friends biked to the reserve!

Here are the link's that take you to the people's blogs who came with me for a bike ride! NunuNadiKhittamaiYi Yi and Shwe Shwe!

Enjoy y'all :)

“Eek!” my sisters both said. We just overheard my mum on the phone talking to our friends’ mum! From what we heard, it seems like we will all be biking down to the reserve!

“Yi Yi, Shwe Shwe and Aye Myat put on some sunscreen please!” My mum said as she handed us a bottle of sunscreen.

We put on some sunscreen on our legs, arm’s, face and neck and then put the bottle down on the table. We were screaming with excitement (but not loudly) and we kept going on about how fun it would be!

After my mum changed my baby brother’s clothes and put on some sunscreen on both him and herself, my sisters and I grabbed our helmet’s and sprinted to our shoes! We quickly slipped on our socks, followed by our sneakers and unlocked the front door.

“Close the door behind you!!” I said back to my sisters.

“Yeah, yeah I know, I know!!” They replied back.

I carefully moved my bike backwards from the grass it was parked on and then got on it. My sisters grabbed their own bikes and did the same. Eventually, my mum came out of the house with my baby brother in a stroller!

“Go open the gate” my mum asked me.

So I did as I was told (while I was on my bike of course)! My sisters and I all biked while my mum walked behind us. Once we reached this wiggly line of concrete in front of our school, we waited for one of our friends who was supposed to come any moment now…

We waited.. and waited.. and waited!! Around 30 minutes passed and they STILL weren’t here!! Even our other friends who were coming were already here!! “Any moment now” I thought to myself but nope, still no sign of them.

All of a sudden my friends FINALLY emerged out of their car in which they drove here to with.

“Nadi!! Nunu!!” I yelled. I was excited to see them, don’t get me wrong but like 30 minutes late isn’t a joke!! Hmph <:(

Anyways, Nadi rushed over to Yi Yi and Shwe Shwe since those three bond more together since they are all the same age, enjoy the same thing’s, all are really sassy and annoying sometimes and like glitter (+ some other things). Meanwhile, I was busy asking Nunu why they came so late.

“Why did you come so late??” I asked.

“It was my older brothers fault. He took so long in the shower and wouldn’t get out!” Nunu replied.

“Oh OK but still!! You came VERY late!! Khittamai, his mum and brother’s are waiting for us over there!!” I told her.

Unfortunately, they didn’t bring their bikes or anything so they had to walk while my sisters and I biked. If you didn’t know, near Pt England Beach there is a little area where you can have a nice walk, jog or bike and it’s like a long path with beautiful flowers and houses on the side.

Here’s a pro tip; Don’t get distracted by the breathtaking flowers because there are some dogs from the houses on the other side that bark so loud it actually almost made me fall of my bike!! Kind of like a jumpscare so watch out!!

It’s been about 15 minutes of biking and walking and it’s been so much fun! There is also a sea side on the left side of the path which is really cool and adds to the beauty of the flowers but if you fall in it, it won’t be really cool as there are rocks on the side so be careful please!!

“OH MY GOSH!!” I yelled with excitement.

“THERE IS A SLOPE DOWN HERE!!” Basically if you don’t understand why I was excited, there was this like slope that I knew would be very fun to bike down on and I REALLY wanted to bike down!!

“3, 2, 1…” I counted down…

“WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!” I yelled as I slided down the slope (on my bike) and had the time of my life!!

“Come on Yi Yi and Shwe Shwe!! TRY IT OUT!!!” I begged for them to slide down but them being the biggest scaredy-cats ever, didn’t try it out sadly.

After the down slope there was an up slope but it was a bit hard moving up it while being on my bike so I just walked it up instead. We biked\walked for another 20 minutes or so and took MANY pictures until it was time to bike and walk back :(

I was a bit upset but AWFULLY tired so it was kinda a win, win situation I guess? Anyways, I quickly biked as fast as I could so then while the others (who were SUPER slow!!) came I could go up and down the slope multiple times.

Overall, it was SO much fun!! Not to mention it was my first time biking there! Also, we were exhausted once we got home but we played a bit of Roblox, hehe :)
